Pop quiz hotshot. From what High School did James Yap and Ken Bono come from? Both PBA stars were once recruited to play for the Iloilo Central Commercial high School. Its a prominent school for Filipino-Chinese Ilongos and the owners are dead serious with their basketball.
The school is known in Iloilo as Huasiong. I think it might be the Chinese name of the school. The school's administration recruit students who they deem will eventually give them a good name and as mentioned their two biggest recruits were James and Ken. This team has just won four straight titles in the Iloilo School Sports Basketball Tournament.
The current team is coached by Vincent "Bing" Conlu. Coach Bing is an alumnus of Huasiong and went to Manila to play college ball for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws. Coach Bing started with Caoch Danny Gavieres and ended with Coach Koy Banal. Coach Bing was one of the back ups of Celino Cruz who teamed up with Ryzal Castro, Gerard Jones and Mico Roldan. They lost ot DLUS in to the 2000 UAAP Championship. 
This year they have four seniors who are in the market and one of them is a member of the National Youth Team. A 6'3 wingman who can shoot 3's, drive and is energetic on both ends of the court. Other scouts have already talked to this guy and we have our sights on other players. Whatever the outcome is, we are just happy to get an inside track on this school and hopefully get some players in the future.
