Olympians still a long way to go

The 9th NAASCU Season is seven months away and the STI College Olympians are now playing in the Fr. Martin's Cup in preparation for that tournament. The Olympians have lost Ramon Mabayo, Darryl Mendoza, Mike Cabangon and William Vasallo. On the bright side, the Olympians have an intact line up for the next two years.

The Olympians dropped their first two assignments against the Mapua Cardinals and San Beda Red Lions. In their third game they went up against the UP FIghting Maroons. The Maroons has beefed up their line up and are geared towards a better finish in the coming UAAP. The only difference in the game was that the Maroons were better in knowing their roles and defended well.

Understandably the Olympians are still in the process of perfecting their trapping defense and offense. The new players are adjusting to their new roles vacated by the veterans and are set to do that once they get enough games.

The current team is composed of Alvin Macabasco, Arnold Danganan, Jay Aransazo, Maclean Sabellina, Bryan Daguplo, Raffy Waminal, Paul Sabacahan, Oscar Crisostomo, Martin Antonio, Norman Ihalas, Thomas Washington. New acquisitions are JC Po, Mark Orrias, Kim Mejica, Virgilio Carino, and Sean Mbe.

Its a long road to respectability but as proven before, the Olympians will eventually get there.
