A full packed CAP John Hay
One of the most awaited events in STI is the National Youth Convention. After the astounding success of the 14th edition of this spectacular roadshow presentation last year, STI students have shown much love to the event by coming in droves to the CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio City. Fourteen STI schools arrived in buses and vans as more than three thousand STIers were there to witness the event. This is the most number of students that attended the Baguio National Youth Convention.
STI Students line up to get in
The city of Baguio is always the venue where the NYC is usually launched. 14 STI schools supported the NYC namely schools from Alaminos, Angeles, Balagtas, Cauayan, Ilagan, Laoag, La Union, San Fernando, San Carlos, San Jose, Tarlac, Tuguegarao and Urdaneta. As mentioned this is the biggest crowd that the NYC has gotten in its initial stage of the convention. More so it is just so apt that a good sized crowd was there since the theme for this year’s NYC is “SIMULAN NATIN!”
Romy De Villa of Globe took the Innovate Topic
Three speakers gave good accounts of their topics as the crowd were on their toes listening intently to the topics that were discussed. First to talk was Romy de Villa who is the Head of Developers for Globe Labs. As guest speaker he tackled the INNOVATE topic as he discussed various projects of Globe Labs and said that he hopes to see more STI students make it to Globe.
Pido Aguilar was the 2nd speaker and his topic was about Influence
The second topic, INFLUENCE had something to do with building one’s self and building the nation. Who better to give that talk than a veteran teacher, trainer and writer Pido Aguilar. Pido shared a lot about giving, receiving and spreading your talents. His animated style of giving the talk made it all the more better for the students to understand what he was talking about.
Capping the afternoon is the INTERACT talk which is entitled “Get Connected, Get the Job!” This topic was ably handled by veteran STI caravan speaker and STI College Bacoor IT head Ricky Bunag. Ricky touched on the salient points on how STI students can invest on themselves now while they are still students and eventually reap the dividends when they are already looking for a job.
My former teacher now a part of the NYC
This is just the first part of the NYC. Watch out for the NYC in Kalibo, Ormoc, Cebu, Bacolod , Cagayan de Oro, Davao , Koronadal, Naga, Puerto Princesa and Manila.
