A Childlike Christmas Part 2

Sometimes the pressures of having to live most of your time in the streets gets to you specially if a kid as young as 6 years old is already trying to earn money so that his family can make it through the day. These are the harsh realities in life. Childhope Asia on the other hand is a foundation geared towards helping these street kids have alternative education. It also partners with other foundations so that these street kids are given proper care.

I remember hosting a party for street kids last year where we brought more than 60 kids to Star City to enjoy the rides. This time the same concept was adapted but the event was held at the NIDO Fortified Science Discovery Center which is located at the Mall of Asia.

Utilizing state of the art equipments and using the latest in engineering computers and digital technology, the NIDO Fortified Science Discovery Center makes learning more fun and exciting. Initially conceptualized as a technology based attraction for kids with hands-on exhibits, visitors are now immersed with a top of the line interactive learning experience.

The kids started out by painting figurines which they also brought home, had a little chit chat with guests namely movie and television actor Eric Quizon who heads the Dolphy Aid for Pinoys Foundation. His brother Van Dolph and wife Jenny joined him together with their other brother Epi Quizon.

After a very hearty merienda, the Quizon brothers also joined them inside the discovery center. One of the main attractions is the Planetarium that showed a short presentation on the planets, the solar system and a featured presentation.which gave the kids a great half day of fun. As they went home the kids received small gift packs and a lot of love from their kuya and ates from STI. As they return, they will always remember this day as the day they had fun and learned a lot at the NIDO Fortified Science Discovery Center. As for me, after meeting the kids, I am already looking forward to next year's event.
