Sudan's Tatoo

While watching the STI vs Letran game, San Beda's foreign center sat beside us. I noticed that on his right leg was a tatoo of a prayer. Lo and behold it was an excerpt of what they call The Deer's Cry or prayer which is a prayer for protection.

I arise today

I ask that
Through God’s strength to pilot me:
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me
God's haste to save me
in this world
Alone and as an individual.
