UAAP theme song: PUSO by Spongecola

I watched a lot of UAAP Games this season on television and while watching I noticed that there were times that Studio 23 would play some sort of a UAAP theme song. The catchy tune caught my attention and I said to myself that the theme song is quite nice because it talks about the UAAP with much passion which echoes the sentiments of UAAP fans also. Fast forward last tuesday, I was about to sleep when Yael Yuzon sent a message through my facebook account encouraging everyone to watch the debut of their new video on MYX at 12:27 am. I said well, mine as well watch it. To my surprise it was the song PUSO which Spongecola performed. I got excited and liked the video since it is the UAAP theme song. I was talking about Yael said that the video will be shown at the championship game this sunday. If the song talks about passion the video put actions to those emotions that is why I loved the video more. Imagine putting together UAAP big guns like Chris , Jobe and Jai of Ateneo, JV and Rico of DLSU, JR and Ben of FEU, James and Marcy of UE, Jan of AdU and Mike G of UP. (Hope I did not miss out on anyone)
Here are the lyrics of the song.

LYRICS

Hinihingal ka lang , May oras pang natitira
Kahit parang ang layo pa , Habol,
Kung harangan ka man

Sumalakay man mga bantay, Lahat kami Maghihintay
Habol, habol!

Refrain:
Dehado kung dehado, Para sa’n pang mga galos mo
Kung titiklop ka lang, Titiklop ka lang
Matalo kung matalo
Huwag ka sanang magkakamaling, Sumuko na lang
Woah

Maagawan ka man, Lalung huwag kang papipiga
Kumpiyansa lang bawat bangga, Woah

Kumaripas ka na, Humanda ka na sa paglipad
Pakpak nati’y ilalantad, Woah

Repeat Refrain

Chorus:
Ang puso, Iaalay
Sa laban, Kapalit ay tagumpay

Repeat Refrain

Ang puso, Ialay
Sa laban, Kapalit ay tagumpay

Chorus:
Ang puso, Iaalay
Sa laban, sa laban, sa laban, sa laban mo

Intrumental

Coda:
Ang puso, Iaalay
Sa laban, Kapalit ay tagumpay
(Repeat thrice)

To add on, Yael said that he made the song after watching a UAAP game...which game it was - I will just divulge soon. Hope you also liked the video.

I heard that this song was originally for the ADMU Blue Eagles?

According to Yael, he wrote it after the Blue Eagles were eliminated by DLSU last year. That's where the inspiration came from. So if the Blue Eagles win it all this year, expect another song from him. Hehe
