Ateneo beats La Salle, Lasalle beats FEU and FEU Beats Ateneo. That’s the UAAP, wherever you look at it you can never predict the outcome of the games as the FEU Tamaraws brought down the last undefeated team with a 72-66 win. With that win there is suddenly a triple tie for first place. Mark Barroca scored 11 points together with 5 rebounds and 5 assists as he led the Tamaraws to this all important win and a tie with Ateneo and La Salle for first place.
JR Cawaling fueled the FEU rally with a three pointer while Barroca followed it with a low post play off Jai Reyes to erase the 46-56 deficit and move to within 57-58. FEU practically played a team game as Benedict Fernandez scored on the line, Riel Cervantes on drives and put backs and the most important basket of all was the two jumpers of Aldrech Ramos, the last one with 47 seconds left gave the Tamaraws the lead for good.
The win negated the best offensive effort of Ateneo center Rabah Al-Husaini who scored 33 points and pulled down 20 rebounds. Not since Ken Bono scored the same points in 2006 has someone scored that much in a UAAP game .Chris Tiu was held to 7 points and was not quite himself as he missed two important three pointers that would have changed the complexion of the game. It was only Rabah who scored in double figures. In contrast, there were four tamaraws in double figures, Riel Cervantes had 14 points, Aldrech Ramos scored 12 points had 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots, Benedict Fernandez had 12 points and Barroca had 11.
Now that this game is over and done, lets stop whining and get back to work.
