The last game of the day proved to be a game of runs and spurts as STI College Las Piñas withstood the gallant stand of STI College Fairview to eke out a hard earned 92 – 86 win. .  Second Year forward Christopher Jutie led all scorers with 22 points while Dalton Balidoy ably supported him with 19 markers. STI College Fairview was led by Junior guard Paolo Pulido with 18 points.

STI College Las Piñas, a team with seven freshmen, used grit, patience and perseverance to outlast their opponents for what they lacked in experience they compensated with their determination and tenacity especially in defense. In the end, their persistence paid off as they collected their first win in the tournament.

The game started with STI College Fairview scoring like a house on fire as they took an early 12 – 5 lead and was threatening to widen their lead as Pulido and Colcol torched the nets. Coach Narvasa called time-out and the Las Piñas cagers slowly ate up the Fairview lead to end the first quarter only down by three 13 – 16.

In the second quarter, STI College Las Piñas worked hard to pressure the Farivew team and the result were turnovers and fastbreaks in favor of the Las Pinas boys.   Jutie and Paolo Negrido combined for 15 points for the STI College Las Piñas as their team scored 23 points and limited STI College Fairview to only 14 for a 33 – 30 halftime lead.

When all was lost for STI College Fairview, they suddenly unleashed a 10 – 0 run to erase a 13- point 62 – 49 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.  Fourth year forward Gerald Gonzales ignited that run that prompted STI College Las Piñas to call time once again to regroup.  The Las Piñas boys then unleashed hell as Balidoy, Jutie together with shifty guard Joemarei dela Cruz went back to their vaunted pressure defense to increase their lead to 86 – 71 with two minutes left.

With their backs against the wall, the Fairview team refused to wilt by pressuring their opponents that eventually led to turnovers. STI College Fairview went to Mark Dumon and Paolo Pulido in the stretch as the duo connived for another 12 – 0 run to cut the lead once again to just three points with thirty seconds left in the game.  Jerome Faelden eventually scored the insurance basket as he found himself alone underneath the basket that gave the southern team breathing room until the buzzer sounded.
