Norman Ihalas on the drive
The STI College Olympians ended the 9th NAASCU Season on a low note by bowing to the Lyceum of Subic Bay Sharks 65 -63. Jesse James Collado led the charge of the Sharks as he teamed up with Raymond Elano to turn the game beyond recall in the final two minutes until they addressed the final uprising of the Olympians in the closing minutes. It was the first time that the Olympians finished fourth place. The Sharks on the other hand retained their third place seeding as they got back form a 0 - 2 start to sneak into the final four and get the third spot.
Tom Washington in his final game as an Olympian
The only bright spot in the Olympians season is the selection of Martin Antonio and Jerald Bautista to the Mythical Ten and Jerald Bautista also making it to the Mythical 5 team. The Olympians faltered towards the middle of the season and gained their bearing in the final week to make it to the final four. They almost made it back to the finals when they extended the UM Hawks to the second game of their final four match. Unfortunately, the fourth quarter surge of Jeff Viernes in their knockout match sealed the Olympians doom.
Jerald Bautista scores
The Olympians whose average age is around 20.5 years is a young team that overachieved. They overtook the AMACU TItans and Informatics Icons who started with a 7 -0 win slate. Bautista together with Maclean Sabellina, Norman Ihalas and Cedrick Ablaza will lead the charge of the Olympians in the next three years. Its back to the drawing board once again for the Olympians.
