FEU Pep Squad wins UAAP Cheerdance

2009 UAAP Cheerdance Champs FEU Pep Squad

Let’s go Tamaraws lets go, Let’s Go Tamaraws Let’s GO! That was the resounding chant that was heard all throughout the Big Dome as this year’s hosts The Far Eastern University Tamaraws captured their second UAAP Cheerdance title in the midst of a jampacked Araneta Coliseum. The Tamaraws were the last team to perform and their performance was a fitting climax to the very energetic crowd that trooped to the Big dome. The Blue Babble Battalion of the Ateneo de Manila University placed second as they edged out the defending champion University of the Philippines Pep Squad by a whisker.

The FEU Pep Squad and the Blue Babble Battalion dislodged UP and UST from the top and sit as the best Pep squad’s this year. The team that had the most disappointment was last year’s runner up the University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi – the winningest team in the UAAP Cheerdance competition. This is the first time that UST did not figure in the top 3 of the competition as flaws in their presentation ruined their presentation.

The UP Pep Squad was rarin to go but unfortunately some faults ruined their near flawless presentation. The surprise team this year is the Ateneo’s Blue Babble Battalion. The Atenean’s actually had just simple routines but their timing, choreography and flawless execution earned the nod of the judges. The FEU Team had extremely high energy routines , synchonized gymnastic acts and flawless execution. Their 86% score can be considered a runaway and consensus among the judges that they really won the title hands down.
