People come and go in my life. A lot of them still stay with me till now but a lot has just passed by my life. Some of them I shared good memories and some I remember because of the special place they've put me in their lives. One person who I hope will still be a part of my life is my former dancer from STI, Zerina Tiangco. Her bubbly personality caught my attention and her way of being nice, polite and happy to be with made us instant friends. Since our ages are worlds apart, I think she has considered me as a friend and a father figure to whom she could relate stories and ask for advice from.

From the time we met a lot has changed through the three years that we have been together. Through the STI All-Stars dance team's gigs we would often share countless happy moments together with the other girls. From that time she has also matured and established a serious relationship with a co-STier, EJ Tan. Zerina and I shared a common interest in food. She is just lucky that she is young and her metabolism is fast that she doesn't get fat easily. But like my other gurls we have shared countless dinners, lunches and coffee stories which made our bond stronger.

Last friday my little gurl, who i consider like my daughter (she calls me daddy) walked down the aisle to get married to the person who has made her feel complete -EJ. And in that wedding, she asked me if I can stand as one of their Godfathers! At first it elicited a big laugh from me, but when it finally sunk in I realized Oh My God is this true. Well, I told her I am honored for I have always been a person who gave her advice whenever she was in a bind. Now there are two of them.

I am just happy to make it to the wedding since my schedule was quite unforgiving the past few weeks. I told myself I had to squeeze in this wedding even if it was on a weekday. I am just glad that my baby is now on her way to having a family. Good luck EJ and Zerina, and like what I always tell you, I will be by your side no matter what. Just call me - The Ninong! Ayyyy.

Casa blanca in Tagaytay

In a person's life, they consider their wedding as the most important day of their lives. As they say a man's life is incomplete until he gets married, after that he is finished. Kidding aside, Filipinos are romantics at heart and they usually use their hard earned money to make their wedding the most important day in their lives.

Just recently I got to witness a wedding of a friend in Tagaytay. This is most probably the third time I've been to the windy city and I am quite happy that the venues vary everytime I am here. This time around the wedding reception of the wedding I went to was in Casa Blanca which is just a stone's throw away from the Starbucks coffee shop. The place as seen here is quite breath taking.

As seen here, there is a swimming pool in the middle of the house which is actually the reception area. The organizers have placed a catwalk in the middle of the pool going to the presidential table. I was told that for 30k you can sleep over and have your reception in the area. We were already here the night before the wedding and had dinner with the bride to be and her family.

Here is another view of reception area as more than 15 to 20 tables can be placed which is perfect for guests around 150 to 200 people. The only drawback in this place is the parking. It should be noted that someone should take care of the parking specially when the affair is over because what one must do is park at the driveaway which will definitely block the way to the entrance. But the place is indeed a sight to behold. The view of the lake makes it all the more romantic.

Wedding Reception of the year

Just this week I had to emcee two wedding ceremonies. The first one was with Delio Aseron and Tiffany Villanueva who got married at Marikina with the couple being binded together in simple wedding rites. The other one was the wedding of Jay de Jesus and Aileen Apolo at the Mary the Queen Parish and reception was at the President's Hall in North Greenhills. In both wedding receptions I was asked to emcee with the former alone and the latter with a partner.

Emceeing a wedding ceremony alone is okay but emceeing with a partner better. I am just happy that during the wedding of Jay and Aileen they asked Gabe Mercado to emcee along. It was one of the wackiest wedding programs I have emceed so far. The adlibs were all profound and everyone had a blast laughing at every single comment we had. Hope to have more of this in 2010. Thanks Gabe, till the next time we emcee again.

THE WEDDING EMCEE

The town of Agoncillo in Batangas is a long 120 km ride south of Manila, a two hour drive via the scenic route of Tagaytay Ridge and R. Diokno Highway It is 32 km away from Batangas City, the provincial capital. Bounded in the east by approximately 10 km lakeshore of Taal Lake, in the south by the municipality of San Nicolas, separated by Pansipit on the west by the municipality of Lemery and on the north by the municipality of Laurel. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 26,584 people in 5,029 households. That was the route I took to host a wedding reception. Come to think of it, i've turned down numerous emceeings the past four months and I myself am wondering why i said yes. The only logical reason is I missed emceeing weddings and I loved driving alone coz it helps me reconnect to myself. Like what i told my friend, once i commit i'll be there. The only thing that will prevent me from doing so is a drastic change of sked because of my day job. This was the first time I hosted a wedding that I never really did meet the wedding coordinator nor the bride and groom. I was just sent a program and a map then a short explanation of the program when I arrived. I was told that I came highly recommended and i was quite happy everything turned out okay. The newlyweds were happy to have me. While chatting with the other suppliers who were there, Red Santos who was the official photographer asked me, "how long have you been doing this?" Then I suddenly realized, OMG its been 15 years since the first Wedding I emceed! I never really realized that I have mastered a craft that some people are hesitant to do. The best part is that at the end of the job you get paid for doing something you enjoy doing. That's why going back to manila I took several side trips to enjoy Tagaytay and also take my sweet time going home. The past 15 years i have been emceeing weddings while the past 18 had me play music to friends who got married. Next Stop, the wedding photographer!

My Bestfriend's Wedding

It’s been almost ten years ago when it all started. Through the Days with the Lord I met this nice young woman who was always smiling and laughing at my jokes. Our friendship started through marathon phone calls and eventually I got to know his then suitor and eventual boyfriend who also became a good friend of mine. What made our friendship better was my inclusion to their barkada. By the time they were Juniors at the UST College of Fine Arts I was like their big brother who provided the laughs and happy moments to their barkada. For me it was like having a new barkada all together but this time everything dwelled on clean fun. Meeting and going out with young friends was something new that broke the monotony of the pressures of selling Toyota Vehicles then. Denise together with Louise, Joy, Xavier, Paul, Gelo, AK and a bunch of their other friends brightened my weekends and more importantly added another perspective to my life. Denise and I shared lots of fun times, many happy moments and countless stories that strengthened our friendship. I would frequent their house and also enjoy being with her equally fun loving sisters Joline & Tamille. The fun in their compound never really stops since her cousins Angelica & Chesca who are also Dazers frequently join us and as they say the more the merrier. The experience was like being a college student again. Tito Tom and Tita Jing suddenly had another son since I was practically at their house every time there is a get together. It was also at that time that they became happy that they did not have a son when they saw me eat. When I moved to work at STI suddenly we had less time together. The fact is I devoted almost 80% of my time to my work and was less visible to ALL my friends. Occasionally we would see each other just to update on what’s going on in our lives. Last night I scolded her, “Why did you get married ahead of me?” Well I believe she is ready and I know that she is in good hands with her husband Justinn. By January Engineer Justinn will be going to New Zealand to lay down the foundations of their family. Like what Denise said, I hope that by her 28^th birthday she will be able to follow there so that they can start their family rightaway.
